Mission Gizzard
Bio...

We are a four-piece band consisting of two axes, a bass and a drummer, oh and some of us sing. We play a unique style of music that is hard to describe, but it is kind of a cross between 'Geek Rock' and 'Bubblegum Punk'. It's a sound that lets us exert all our energy into the music.

We play mostly originals, however we do a couple of covers, and sets range from 10 to 45 minutes (we'd probably struggle for an hour at the moment).

In general our audiences are of the younger, 'jump around a lot', persuasion. Then again Floppy's grandparents have heard us play and they didn't run screaming...

Here's a quick run down of who does what:

Rowan "digga" Johnson:
Drums and general testing of everyone's patients

Jeremy "jim" Hollis:
Lead guitar and random screams

Alistar "floppy" McEwen:
Rhythm guitar and peacekeeper

Jordan "who needs a nickname" Blaikie:
Bass, frontman and ringleader.

Mission Gizzard has been around since February 2002 and came crashing into recognition by gaining entry to the National Final of the Rockquest, which was held in Christchurch (oh yeah, that sounds flash)...

We have played with Steriogram, Wash and Stylus at the Oracle; At the celebration of the Chinese year of the goat at Howick in the park; At the school dance... And about 5-6 times for the Rockquest.

Getting paid is a rare occurrence for MG, but that is slowly changing... Generally if we can cover our costs of getting there, we will play.
